Botox injections between the eyebrows are by far the main, fastest, most effective, and in some cases the only way to get rid of wrinkles in the area of the over-nose. This is due to the fact that the eyebrow wrinkles are dynamic, that is, they arise due to the constant mimic contraction of the muscles, leading to wrinkling of the skin. Moreover, the muscles are quite strong and voluminous, due to which the skin on them is well “stretched” and does not sag even with age-related changes. That is, the factors leading to the appearance of static wrinkles practically do not affect the appearance of folds between the eyebrows. It is under such conditions that Botox and its analogues demonstrate the most pronounced results when applied.
The experience of cosmetologists shows that with the correct selection of the amount of the product (the so-called Botox units) and the correct introduction of wrinkles in the eyebrows, they can be completely removed, and this effect manifests itself in the period from several hours to 2-3 days after the procedure, and then lasts for six months year.
Moreover, often even skin defects caused by old wrinkles (stripes, differences in skin tone) after this procedure are eliminated either independently, due to regenerative processes in the skin, or simple and safe additional procedures. Thus, after the introduction of Botox, smooth, clean skin remains between the eyebrows.
Plus, the introduction of Botox in the eyebrows is a well-developed procedure. More than half of botulinum therapy cases are associated either with the elimination of wrinkles only in the area of the epigastric region, or with complex correction of the area between the eyebrows, forehead and corners of the eyes. Due to the fact that doctors are able to work well with this area, the procedure itself is very safe, its price is relatively low, and the result is quite predictable. The patient himself in this procedure needs to know only a few important points.
How good a result can be achieved with Botox injections in the eyebrows
Botox injections can completely get rid of eyebrow wrinkles. After the procedure, the skin is smoothed out and even with active facial expressions practically does not wrinkle. The degree of expression of folds in the expression of emotions can be varied to a certain extent due to the selection of one or another number of units: a highly qualified cosmetologist can almost completely keep facial expressions, but remove wrinkles at rest, and can achieve a complete absence of folds, regardless of emotions.
On a note
Many women strive at all costs to completely remove wrinkles in the area of the overhead, so that they are not visible either in a calm face or when expressing emotions. This is a rather dangerous desire: a typical consequence of the corresponding procedure will be a violation of facial expressions and the formation of the so-called “wax mask”. In this case, emotions seem to be manifested, but their interlocutor is very noticeable their unnaturalness, and even if he sees a person after such an "excess" procedure for the first time. Therefore, in most cases, it is desirable to choose a middle ground, in which wrinkles between the eyebrows can appear when frowning, expressing feelings of disgust, surprise, but they are absent when the face is calm.
For example, in the photo below - an example of eliminating a fairly deep wrinkle in the eyebrow:
Photos were taken with a time interval of 6 days.
A similar result, but with a few wrinkles, is shown here:
And in this photo - the effect of botulinum toxin injections right between the eyebrows and forehead:
Since wrinkles also form on the forehead due to the constant contraction of the facial muscles, Botox is equally effective in removing them.
Feedback
The first time I stabbed Dysport, I was 30 years old. I was very pleased with the result, and now I went to Botox. Everything is similar, the technique of injections is the same, the same thin needle, no differences. True, the injections were a little painful, but the pain is bearable. Botox has a lower dosage, so it took me 40 units on the eyebrow, crow's feet and around the mouth, and Dysport was set to 85. I either have a skin structure or facial expressions that are too pronounced, but Botox only started on the third day, and fully manifested only after a week. But how he acted! To say that I am happy means to say nothing! It was as if five years had left my face, I didn’t look so fresh at my 20. Everything is clean, not a single wrinkle anywhere, even small purse-string wrinkles are gone. In the interbrow he took it almost immediately, the skin was completely smoothed out, and he got around his eyes about a week later. Plus, in one place for almost five days there was a bruise. Here I have this bruise - the only minus of the whole procedure, every day I had to cover it up. But now I'm a beauty, I can’t look at myself in the mirror. According to the experience with Dysport, this whole thing is enough for six months, the doctor said that Botox will work for a longer period. Let's see, in general.
Catherine, Moscow
It is noteworthy that situations where Botox would not help get rid of wrinkles in the eyebrows are very rare. This is due to the principle of its action: with the introduction of a botulinum toxin preparation (it doesn’t matter, Botox, or its analogue, for example, Dysport) into a muscle that, when contracted, forms a wrinkle, this muscle completely or a certain part of its fibers gets out of control of nerve cells . Normally, nerve impulses coming through these cells cause muscle contraction, and this, in turn, leads to wrinkling of the skin. After botulinum toxin - the active ingredient of Botox - enters the muscle fiber, the nerve impulse breaks off at the point of contact of the neuron with the myocyte (muscle cell), and the cell itself does not react to the signal from the brain. Therefore, the muscle either does not fully or partially contract, does not compress the skin, and wrinkles do not appear, or appear to a lesser extent.
An experienced beautician can inject the drug into the muscle so gemly that it will make him contract exactly as much as necessary. Without such jewelry work, the muscle simply ceases to contract completely. The wrinkle in this case also disappears, but the facial expressions are broken.
Therefore, no matter how deep the wrinkle may be, Botox will in any case eliminate it. The depth of the crease is determined by the size and strength of the muscle that causes it, and if this muscle is denervated, the wrinkle will disappear, no matter how noticeable it is.
All this means that Botox will not work in only two cases:
- The doctor entered it incorrectly and “missed” past the muscle, the contraction of which leads to the appearance of this particular wrinkle;
- The patient is insensitive to botulinum toxin preparations.
Both cases are very rare. Only a completely unprepared cosmetologist can "miss" past a sufficiently large and well-palpable muscle in the eyebrows - such people are simply not allowed to see patients in clinics. And insensitivity to botulinum toxin is manifested in no more than 5% of patients, including those who have previously had botulism. All this means that the wrinkle between the eyebrows is almost always completely removed.
It is interesting
The cosmetic effect of botulinum toxin preparations was first discovered precisely with injections in the interbrow. This happened by accident: Botox was then called Oculinum and was used to treat blepharospasm - a constant spastic muscle contraction that led to severe facial distortions.One of the doctors who performed this treatment noticed that in addition to the main effect, wrinkles between the eyebrows were smoothed out in the patient who was injected with the drug near the eyebrows. He reported this observation in an article, and this moment can be considered the beginning of the worldwide “Botoxomania” - in less than 20 years the drug has turned from a highly specialized product into a cosmetological bestseller, and the company producing it has turned from a small private enterprise into a multi-billion dollar corporation.
Indications for such injections
In cosmetic practice, the presence of noticeable wrinkles between the eyebrows is quite enough to introduce Botox into this area. Moreover, injections are carried out, including with the just emerging “interlineation”, when there are no permanent visible bands on the surface of the skin.
In addition, in many cases, botulinum therapy of the area of the epigastric region may be indicated in the presence of other, both cosmetic and pathological indications:
- The apparent asymmetry of the location of the eyebrows when one of them is lower than the other or directed to the edge of the face at a different angle;
- Asymmetry of facial expressions, noticeable only when expressing certain emotions;
- Blepharospasm, in which a significant part of the facial muscles are constantly tense and contracted. Usually it spoils and even disfigures the face itself and causes serious inconvenience to the patient (for example, does not allow to open the eye or mouth);
- Wrinkles in the lower forehead or on the back of the nose (the so-called "rabbit wrinkles).
In all these cases, Botox may be required to be injected not only between the eyebrows, but also in the forehead, eyebrows, and around the eyes. The doctor develops the layout of points for administering the drug on his own, and in the ideal case, personally for each patient.
What to prefer to remove the “interbrow” - Botox, or another botulinum toxin drug?
The removal of eyebrow wrinkles is equally effective with all botulinum toxin-based preparations. At Botox alone, the light did not converge here: its analogues are quite suitable for this purpose: Kseomin, Dysport, Relatox, Mioblock and others. Despite the differences in the price and power of action of a unit of each of these funds, an experienced specialist will be able to pick up such an amount of it with any drug and choose such points of administration that it will get the desired result for the patient.
However, each product has its own fans. The most popular in the whole world in general, and in Russia in particular, is Botox - it was the first commercially successful drug of botulinum toxin and it still remains an unchanged sales leader among analogues.
On a note
Botox is so popular among patients that its name has become an eponym - it is used to refer to any botulinum toxin drug and even to indicate the botulinum therapy procedure itself.
The second most popular drug is Dysport. One unit of it is about 2.5 times weaker than one unit of Botox, and at the same time it costs less. In fact, the cost of regular injections of these drugs is the same for the patient.
Relatox, Xeomin, Neuronox and other drugs are identical in strength to Botox, but each of them has its own characteristics. It is painful to relatox, Xeomin is cleaner and safer, but also more expensive, and so on. Therefore, choosing a specific tool, the cosmetologist evaluates its properties, the specifics of a particular patient, and uses the drug that will be most effective with maximum safety.
This means that the patient needs not to choose the drug, but to entrust this choice to an experienced cosmetologist. Moreover, many doctors prefer to work only with this or that remedy and know it best of all, which means that it is with it that they can provide the desired and most important - predictable result. But ceteris paribus, it is better to go to the procedure to an experienced doctor who knows how to work with all drugs and who has all these drugs available.
Preparation for the procedure: 3 simple but important rules
Botulinum therapy in general, and injections between the eyebrows in particular, are quite safe and simple procedures for the patient. They do not require any special preparation, but something should be done before going to the cosmetologist. Namely:
- Make an appointment at least a week in advance and clarify which medicines should not be taken before Botox injections. This is very important - individual medications can affect the result of botulinum toxin therapy, but patients are so used to their use that they do not even consider them something significant;
- It is good to sleep on the day of the procedure so that after injections for at least 3-4 hours you do not want to lie and sleep;
- Do not drink alcohol before botulinum therapy.
If the day before the injections you feel worse, the procedure is better to cancel. The introduction of botulinum toxin in infectious diseases is contraindicated due to possible complications.
What awaits you during the procedure and will it hurt
Immediately before the start of the procedure, the cosmetologist diagnoses the condition of the inter-eyebrow and checks for the presence of other wrinkles. Already during diagnosis, the doctor studies the specifics of the location of the muscles, selects the number of doses of the drug and marks the injection points.
At the stage of diagnosis, the task for the cosmetologist in general can be adjusted. It is possible that you came to remove the girder, and during the diagnosis, the doctor found other wrinkles that appeared a long time ago, but for one reason or another you did not notice them - you did not wrinkle in front of the mirror, just did not pay attention to them. It is much easier to remove them all at once than to go to a separate procedure because of each.
Then the patient signs a written agreement for botulinum therapy, and the doctor prepares the right amount of the drug and restores it. For this, a dry lyophilizate in the form of a powder is poured with water or saline (this depends on the particular drug).
If only the inter-eyebrow is eliminated, then the drug will need to be pricked at five points - exactly between the eyebrows, above the left edge of each eyebrow and exactly above the center of each eyebrow.
In different patients, the position of these points can vary both in height and in distance from the central axis of the face, and it is for selection that their doctor asks for a frown when diagnosing and probes all muscle fibers under the skin with his fingers.
Women are sometimes additionally injected with a minimum of 2-3 units. Botox above the edge of each eyebrow farthest from the nose to slightly raise this angle.
In general, women usually consume 20-24 units per five injections. Botox, in men - 30-40 depending on the strength of muscle contraction.
It is interesting
The experiments showed that the maximum effect is achieved with the introduction of 60-80 units in the same standard 5 points, but this amount often leads to undesirable mimic side effects.
Consequently, it can be calculated that at a price of about 250 rubles per unit, the correction of wrinkles in the area of over-tolerance will cost 5000-6000 rubles.
When using Disport, 40-45 units will be required to carry out the same procedure and obtain a similar result, but their price will be approximately the same - 5500-6000 rubles.
After the drug is restored, the doctor draws it into the syringe, fixes a needle on it (thinner than with conventional therapeutic injections) and begins to inject the drug into the muscles at selected points.As a rule, the introduction of the solution occurs at a depth of 3-6 mm under the skin.
If at the same time the patient feels pain, the following points may be smeared with ice or lidocaine for anesthesia before the introduction of the drug.
On a note
The so-called mesobotox (subdermal administration of microdoses of the drug) is not used to eliminate eyebrow wrinkles due to low efficiency.
During the procedure, the patient reclines in the usual manipulation chair, his head is thrown back a little, so that the face is in a horizontal plane.
At the end of the procedure, the patient is in a reclining position for another 10-15 minutes, then, if his health does not change, he dresses and leaves the doctor’s office.
Direct injections are carried out in 10-15 minutes, the whole visit usually takes 40-50 minutes. If the work is carried out not only with the area between the eyebrows, but also with other areas, the duration of the procedure may be longer.
Possible unwanted effects
With botulinum therapy, the development of certain side effects is always possible, and the elimination of interbrow is no exception. All such consequences can be divided into two groups - nonspecific, that is, those that occur when Botox is injected into any part of the body, and specific for the treatment of wrinkles of the head.
Non-specific side effects include:
- Edema, bumps, bruises, seals, itching, sensations of a foreign body under the skin at the injection site - they develop in about one in ten patients;
- Flu-like syndrome with sore throat and a slight increase in temperature;
- Headache, the incidence of which is about 11%.
All these effects are passing and disappear after 1-3 days.
More serious consequences are specific side effects:
- Ptosis, due to which a strip below 1 cm from the eyebrows is considered an anatomically dangerous zone;
- Excessive raising of eyebrows, including only their distal edges;
- Violations of facial expressions, in which the entire area of the supra-hypostasis and forehead are no longer involved;
- Asymmetry of the face;
- Loss of sensitivity in the area of the eyebrows.
The problem with the occurrence of these effects is that they develop for the same reason as the target result, and therefore persist for the same period. In some cases, they can be partially or completely eliminated by compensatory injections, but sometimes they persist for the entire duration of the drug.
Practice shows that such consequences are most often the results of cosmetologists' mistakes. Therefore, to reduce the risk, the procedure should be carried out by an experienced doctor.
Another serious and dangerous consequence - allergies - develops relatively rarely and is quickly stopped by the introduction of adrenaline or antihistamines. It is important to notice the manifestation of hypersensitivity in time and take action quickly.
There are also myths and fears that an overdose or even a normal amount of Botox leads to the development of persistent edema, "bloating" and ugliness of the face. In fact, all the "horror stories" about Botox victims in fact turn out to be fakes, in which photographs of victims of overdose by fillers are used.
Rules of conduct after injections: what can and cannot be done during the rehabilitation period
After injections, Botox is distributed for some time in the muscle tissue in the area of administration and only after 2-3 days is completely absorbed by the fibers. At this time, it is very important to prevent undesirable effects on either the muscles themselves or the drug, so that it does not diffuse into non-targeted areas and does not cause side effects. That is why after the introduction of Botox in the eyebrows, you can not:
- Lie and sleep for 3-4 hours;
- Until the end of the day, bend over, be in the sun, eat spicy food;
- Drink alcohol until the end of the day;
- Carry out other cosmetic procedures on the same face area for a week, including applying masks, gels, using scrubs;
- 2-3 days to do massage;
- Go in for sports for 2-3 days;
- Take some medications within 2-3 days.
After 2-3 days, almost all restrictions can be removed, except for additional cosmetic procedures. About how soon they can be done, you must consult your doctor.
Will I have to repeat the procedure regularly?
After Botox injections, wrinkles between the eyebrows disappear after 1-3 days, in rare cases, the effect of the drug appears only after 5-6 days. At the same time, the compensatory mechanism in the tissues is launched, which leads to the restoration of muscle innervation and, as a result, to the gradual completion of the action of the drug.
As a rule, after Botox injections, wrinkles are smoothed out on average for 6-8 months, sometimes up to a year, after which they need to be repeated. When using Dysport, the effect lasts less - up to 5-6 months.
At the same time, reviews show that often with regular removal of Botox wrinkles, the intervals between procedures gradually increase. If the first 2-3 corrections are carried out after 8-9 months, then the subsequent ones need to be carried out after 10-12 months, and sometimes less often. This is partly due to the weakening of the target muscles and their inability to quickly regain the former strength of contractions after restoration of innervation, which is only enhanced by several successive procedures. Therefore, it is more and more difficult to contract before wrinkles appear after each procedure.
Moreover, the restoration of wrinkles after botulinum therapy occurs rather slowly and gradually. It will not be such that after six months, on a perfectly smooth eyebrow, suddenly a deep wrinkle appears suddenly, even more pronounced than before the procedure. It will manifest itself gradually, slowly deepening, and as soon as it becomes more or less noticeable, it can be removed again.
Do Botox need to be supplemented with fillers for injections between the eyebrows and is it possible to replace it with other cosmetic methods and means
In some cases, after Botox, hyaluronic acid fillers may need to be introduced into the same area between the eyebrows. Such a need arises, as a rule, in patients over 50 years of age, in whom, due to weakening and thinning of the skin, a noticeable “strip” forms on the skin at the wrinkle site. Here, the structure of the subcutaneous matrix is disrupted, the number of fibroblasts is reduced, and even the removal of wrinkles is not enough to completely eliminate the defect. Hyaluronic acid provides a certain regeneration of the skin here and helps to completely eliminate traces of creases.
Fillers alone do not eliminate wrinkles between the eyebrows. The fact is that the skin here already tightly enough tightens the muscles, and it is not required to fill the space under it additionally. If you do this, you can get the same effect from the "horror" with swelling and a swollen face. At the same time, the wrinkle will not go anywhere - the muscles both contracted and will contract, as they squeezed the skin, and will continue to compress it.

Botox doesn't take me at all. And neither he, nor Dysport, nor Xeomin. Threw 20 thousand for these experiments, nothing helped. Everything is the same everywhere: right after the injections, it seems to act a little, the entire area goes numb, the facial expressions disappear, wrinkles do not appear, and after 2-3 days everything is released and everything obviously did not work.And I tried to put in between the eyebrows, and on the forehead, and around the mouth - all for nothing. The doctor explained to me that this is related to immunity, and my immune system simply blocks botulinum toxin. Moreover, it is impossible to find out about this in advance, you can only take injections and see if it helps or not. At the same time, fillers act as they can. But in the interbrow, fillers are almost useless ...
Oksana, Moscow
In general, the experience of cosmetologists shows that when eliminating the interbrow, none of the cosmetological methods can be compared in effectiveness with botulinum therapy. Even in cases when fillers are required, they are used in addition to Botox, and Botox itself is almost always necessary. And be that as it may, the choice of tools and methods for obtaining a specific cosmetological result must be trusted to the cosmetologist - he knows exactly what tools will provide the desired effect.
